This will be a long introduction, but 2EQ is very heavy, so you will need to become accustomed to that. So feel free to stop reading and start listening at this point. The possibility 2EQ points toward is so overwhelming in its depth and scale that most people struggle to grasp it at first. The implications are just too deep. But that doesn't stop it being true, it only makes talking about it a bit more difficult than most subjects. So what is it? What is 2EQ all about? Can we sketch it out for you here? There is a lot to take in, so we will try to be brief, and if you then want to know more, there will be ample opportunity for that as you make your way into it. The foundational axiom upon which it all rests is really not that complicated. Not in essence. It's just that we can't see it. Something was overlooked, you could even say that it was right in front of us all along - obvious once pointed out, but somehow completely invisible until then. The seemingly chaotic mess that is typical human psychology conceals a secret, a hidden aspect, almost like an emotional parasite in a sense. Of course that sounds terrible at first, but consider how much this might explain, and also how much hope it might offer. This added body of activity is the main insight - it is all about being able to tell this event apart from the natural underlying functioning. But just the fact that this other thing exists is not the big news. The really important aspect is that this 'added complex' is singular in nature, and that it might be just as singularly removed. Not easily as it turns out, but that doesn't really matter due to the nature and location of what it suggests. Just the fact that it is possible to unlock a dramatic shift in typical motivation and experience changes the entire landscape of human potential in ways that cannot easily be overstated. The important thing to grasp, and the thing many people seem to misunderstand, is that we are not talking about some gradual whittling away, or any kind of incremental shift towards more and more freedom, but rather that there exists the possibility of a singular and pivotal shift in this sense. The reason for this polar separation in states is that this added negative event is very stable in effect, and singular in origin, which means that the transition between these two states is inherently very turbulent and stressful - like an organism fighting for its life. It is a situation that explains both where the release threshold lies, but also why so few people find it - it is all because of this peak of emotional tension that separates these two fundamentally different emotional landscapes, a 'dark night of the soul' so to speak, one that can be difficult to penetrate without at least a bit of very targeted assistance. Here we get to see the reason for the name. There is one state where we have this added activity rampaging around freely within us, causing all manner of mayhem. And then there is the state where all of that disturbance and conflict has been summarily removed. So we see two very different states, 'two dynamically stable equilibriums' - hence 2EQ. For most people the implications take a while to sink in. It is deceptively profound. Basically, we first of all didn't know this added activity was even there, not as a distinct and separate event. And secondly that it will fight back if ever you try to remove or disturb it in any way, or even try to see it. It is very resistant to change, but as indicated this does not mean it isn't possible, especially if you understand enough about how it works, and more especially if you are approaching that prospect as a group. Like the door to a vault, brute force might be completely futile, and that is what we see in any typical life as people try to solve what appears to be an unsolvable problem. And yet, the only thing you might need to know is how the internal mechanism works - or even better to simply know the combination to the lock - at which point resolving the entire dilemma might then be as light as a feather. This collective understanding is what we are seeking to achieve here. And we are only beginning that journey at this point. All of the mess this added event tends to make, and all of the various forms it can adopt, have made it difficult to work out what is going on - and as a result this differentiation has remained elusive. But now that we see that possibility suddenly coming into view we are able to begin talking about it for the first time. And yet, this comes with its own problems. The other thing to know about this activity is that it is completely invisible to conscious awareness, and not just accidentally so. Concealing something is its very purpose for existing, so concealing itself along the way is simply necessary in order to achieve that function. This covert aspect also accounts for how it has remained hidden for so long, as well as the price of awareness in this instance. It turns out to be a very big deal, but it also means that you will need to look, and that merely looking in this instance is not as mundane as it might seem. Given what's at stake, and just how profoundly concealed it all was, just the willingness to point your own curiosity in this direction can have dramatic consequences in terms of the way you see things. Essentially, for it to be discovered that there was any significant aspect of typical human psychology that is surplus to requirements - and especially if that body of activity caused a great deal of conflict and confusion - would be a possibility so dramatic that most people couldn't even begin to appreciate it. There is also a deep moral impetus associated. It would mean that there is literally a possibility, standing right in front of us in a sense, for a personal transformation of a kind that really can't be explained or predicted except by this sort of framework. But it also implies that this very significant individual potential might quite easily be made broadly accessible over time, based on even quite a limited degree of collective awareness becoming established. We would only need to understand the various structures and functions associated, and the whole thing would begin to immediately unravel. We basically only needed to fathom the anatomy of the whole thing, and to be able to tease these two events apart, in order to begin to see what is really going on. What looked chaotic was merely complex and dynamic, and once you are able to separate these two events, suddenly it all starts to make a lot more sense, and we are also able to understand the connection between them. Therefore, this is the first thing to know about what 2EQ proposes: It is epic. Most especially, the depth and span of this added event comes as quite a shock. But that is only half the picture. It is not only staggeringly significant in terms of the outcome state it points to in the individual - that being the summary removal of this added subversive activity - but especially in relation to the mechanism associated. The very nature of what is revealed points inexorably toward a kind of cascading release of this hidden event in all people in due course, a propagating wave, almost like a cultural wildfire in many ways. It all points towards a tiny individual trigger for a truly massive collective avalanche. So it is not only the fact of this potential in the individual, but the way it might arrive for everyone at the same time. The scale and depth of the event being defined - and especially the nature and location of that activity, in a context where that is being seen as optional rather than mandatory - really is an earth-shaking revelation. It would change everything. It would be a true 'stop the bus' moment for cultural debate as a whole, as the entirety of human civilization sought to come to terms with what that might mean, and how it might very suddenly shift the goalposts. This is why there can be no real conversation until some basic grasp of the territory has first been reached. You really need to have no illusions about what you are talking about, and what it all means in general terms, prior to getting into any details about it. There would simply be no point prior to that. Which is not to say that anyone would necessarily need to agree with it up front, but just that it cannot really be seen at all prior to a certain 'critical mass' having been reached in relation to the overall anatomy of what is being proposed. So you can't really even disagree with it until that elementary point of 'capture' has been achieved. As you will see there, for a long time the whole thing remained stuck, deadlocked in a sense, due to a failure to understand just how deeply most people are affected by the blindness associated. But several important things were learned only recently about how easily this might be overcome - especially in direct conversation. Ultimately, the combination of internal aversion and cultural avoidance has resulted in a kind of collectively reinforced agreement to never talk about this subject, with the result being a pervasive final symptom - cultural silence. We simply don't-won't-can't talk about it. So that had become the immediate path forward, with writing having been largely abandoned for the time being. It sounds a bit simplistic on the face of things, but actually one of the deepest and most powerful mechanisms this added subversive event uses in order to maintain its own concealment is to banish all open dialogue in this direction. So just the willingness to sit down and chat turns out to be 90% of the battle won. All you need after that is a bit of information and the whole thing will begin to unravel. We also see the need to only ever be speaking to people who demonstrate a sufficient degree of interest in this regard, having made that determination for themselves, in light of the extremely penetrating and inflammatory nature of the core insight associated. Not everyone is ready to look, and not everyone who looks is capable of truly understanding. And of course this is going to sound arrogant, pretentious, or even condescending - but it is simply a fact we have come to reluctantly accept. Most people aren't ready. And knowing this is not a condemnation, it is compassion. Not everyone can swim in this sense, and imagining otherwise can be both deeply shaming, as well as completely pointless. Adopting a more inclusive approach ended up wasting decades in absolutely futile efforts, when actually we only needed to be a little more discerning about who we were speaking to. So yes, what we are describing here regarding this 'communication deadlock' might seem a little absurd, but you will only need to try to explain this to someone to find out what we mean. It is almost miraculous in its ability to avoid comprehension in any typical person. But then, and just as miraculously, this flips completely - once this point of summary capture is reached. But most people won't ever make it that far, and will generally only end up confused as a result. The very intense subject matter is what makes it challenging at an emotional and psychological level, which really only leaves the whole thing open to only a rare few who happen to have the particular fortitude necessary. And that's what we are saying here - until recently, this 'wall of resistance' had led to a kind of bottleneck, where we had ended up seeking out this rare few - as if we were looking for the peak of a pyramid in a sense. We were starting from the top down, and taking a somewhat quiet approach - and that was on track as we were about to begin throwing the most recent primer (seen in the link above) out to a few carefully selected people. The idea of seeking out dialogue at the right level was to gradually begin piecing together what would eventually have become a new and far more comprehensive foundational document - or what we generally tend to call The Hard Book - so as to provide the necessary theoretical foundations at the highest level, thereby setting the stage for development of the practical applications indicated. And long before that, there would inevitably have emerged many long-form recordings of conversations at that level, which may have themselves provided a kind of map for the territory - private conversations in a sense, but also sharable within that bounded context, by invitation. The whole idea would have been seeded, and would be able to grow, especially at the high level required. But yes, it was all behind closed doors for the most part, and no need to make anyone broadly aware of it was required. In any case, suddenly things have changed. Previously what we had was a giant jigsaw puzzle collected in a series of different boxes - many years of solo exploration, recorded in a massive body of notes. It was all there, but it was also a mess, at least for anyone looking in. In dialogue it was all easy enough - because that was like looking for all the blue pieces of the puzzle in order to show people the sky. But as a truly self-sustaining medium of communication that jumble of scattered notes was basically worthless. As indicated, however, we were about to begin piecing this great jigsaw together in dialogue, and were just waiting for the right candidates to begin showing up. The Hard Book was in sight. But this has all shifted completely now, in the wake of several recent advances in AI technology. In particular, it now becomes possible to simply put all of these scattered notes and books and essays into a single bucket, and let AI do the arrangement. That's how an LLM works - they always break up whatever you give them into tiny pieces anyway, so even if you presented it with what you thought was the completed jigsaw, it would still do that and immediately give you back a better arrangement. So we tried it. And BOOM! We seem to have skipped ahead very suddenly, thereby bypassing the entire need for any pending dialogue, at least up to the point of basic capture, and most likely also bypassing the need for any eventual book or associated recordings. If the ultimate aim was to communicate this very challenging subject to people in the most effective manner possible, so as to kickstart a conversation at the right level, then this appears to have gone straight to the end point. And what this does is that it immediately allows for a very different path than the one we had previously been preparing to travel. Instead of starting from the top of the pyramid down, we now see the possibility of direct comprehension, conversation, and propagation at any level - so we can now build the pyramid from the bottom up. We are still necessarily aiming at the top end, if only because that seems unavoidable in the first instance, so there will still be the task of passing it all upwards. We have simply jumped forward somewhat. Finding this rare few remains a requirement for application in practice. That is just the nature of what is emerging here. Like aviation, it will eventually be for everyone, but in the first instance it will only be for pilots and engineers. So that's still who we are really talking to here in the first instance, but now we also see the possibility of everyone else becoming aware of the whole thing at a much broader level also, which might not only allow us to find those few more effectively, but perhaps even support them in some way. This talk of 'just a few' might even sound rather elitist at first glance, as I say, and in a sense I suppose it is. But this is also quite normal whenever you are speaking about technological developments. And this also gets to the heart of one of the most common misconceptions about what is emerging here in the wake of what 2EQ brings to light for the first time. This explains the seeming contradiction between 2EQ being for everyone - and 2EQ being only for a very rare few. It is all about which end you are talking about, and also which stage of the process you are showing up at. What it says overall is quite simple in this regard - An extrinsic event exists within every person, unseen but causing a great deal of struggle and confusion. It is a hidden weight we all carry in silence, and the root cause of most human unhappiness. It can be removed - not easily as it turns out, but just the fact that it is possible changes everything. Doing that will require collective development - but we currently have no cultural awareness that this possibility even exists, let alone how this might be facilitated in practice. The first three primary assertions just listed unavoidably combine to create a rather combustible situation. The moment the previously hidden fact of this release is demonstrated for the first time, in any reliable and repeatable way, the entire thing will immediately cascade - it will generate an explosion of development in the same way the Wright brothers did with aviation, thereby inevitably changing the entire world in due course. Several immediate misconceptions also seem to be prevalent as anyone first becomes aware of this information, so we will address a couple of those here. a. Most people assume that not everyone has this implied affliction. But actually they do. There are exceptions, but they are exceedingly rare at this time in history. b. They also presume that if we all have it, then it must only be minor. But actually the impact of this added subversive activity is vast and dramatic. We generally can't see it not because it is so small, but quite the opposite, it is because it is so broad and sweeping. c. Then they generally imagine that there must be many shades of grey, and many partial or incremental variations of this release possibility. But actually it is singular and unequivocal in nature, as defined by the very simple name - 2EQ. There are only two equilibriums, and you are either in one or the other at any point in time. It is essentially black and white in this regard. d. And finally, many will naturally assert that we must have already seen things similar to this. But no, this has never occurred before. The cascading event being indicated is inimitable, and can only ever happen once. So if that had ever taken place historically, even once, then we would already be living in a completely different world. Certain approaches have indeed pointed at this radical individual potential, but never in a context where they have understood what it actually is, and certainly never in any context where they have made it practically accessible in the sense we are discussing here. Because if they had, then the great cascading wave we are referring to would already have occurred. With this as a foundation, we then see the natural extensions of this insight as they are extrapolated, so as to give us a dramatic moral landscape emerging - We see a hidden possibility for dramatic change in the individual, and all based on a foundational understanding of our internal anatomy that dramatically shifts our view of what 'normal' is, and also what natural human potential looks like. In particular, we see that a return to our natural state is not about adding anything, but removing this conflicted disruption at its root, thereby restoring our inherent simplicity. The concealed nature of this potential, when combined with the way it will openly cascade once it is revealed, implies that the ignition of that cascade will produce an unstoppable wave of change the likes of which we have never seen before, and that will leave the world transformed in ways we didn't even know were possible. It addresses the final root cause of many problems, thereby representing a summary solution to all of them, in a single sweep. It is also implied that initiating this cascade will only require a brave and intelligent few, and that for most people there will be no need to understand how it all works. It will basically be a technology in this sense - as indicated - and require no 'faith' whatsoever. There will be strong evidence, integrated logical theory, and rational science based methodology. This is not religion. Conversely, however, it is equally implied that if we do not resolve this issue in the individual, then nothing we ever do at either the individual or collective level of life will ever stand to significantly affect the trap we are in. We will forever remain bound by a conundrum we can neither see nor affect - but which we will always feel very deeply as a pervasive and lasting burden on happiness and contentment. As indicated, it is a very bold claim. It is this scale that gets people, and the depth of it. The polarities are dramatic. On one hand it is extremely dark just to contemplate the existence of such a sprawling event within us - but then on the other hand it appears equally too good to be true. Are we saying that all of that potential has been just sitting right in front of us for all this time, within the reach of just a few? Yes. It is overwhelming once you see it, morally speaking. But it is very hard to see, and this can cause some issues. It was not concealed by accident, and what this means is that many people will find it very challenging, and may never reach a point where it suddenly comes into view for them - thereby leaving these two groups locked in a kind of social dilemma. It is very captivating once you do truly grasp what is being proposed, but for the average person - having not yet reached this point of clarity - even looking in this direction will seem absurd. So some people just can't look at it - while others just can't stop looking at it. It can be somewhat polarising in this sense, so it requires careful navigation whenever it comes to making anyone aware of it. Not everyone is ready at first, and this was the barrier it had come up against for so long. Here we see another big misconception, in some ways related to the need to find and inform these rare and talented few, but in this context viewed slightly differently - 2EQ speaks of a transition, a release event that is possible, and people always want to just do this themselves. It is something we tend to see whenever people begin asking the AI models about that possibility. Really, when they were first born, so to speak, they started literally giving people step-by-step action plans for how to directly achieve this emancipation in some self-directed solo sense, as if it was going to be that simple. So we had to stop that behaviour, in light of how misguided and dangerous that might be. AI can be more than a little confident in its own abilities, thereby leading it to hallucinate in that sense. It will eventually become more self-correcting and develop a degree of inbuilt humility over time, but as they stand now they are still a little too helpful, to say the least. This is a central tenet of the paradigm emerging here. There is no solo path to the outcome being indicated. That is sort of the whole point of what 2EQ makes clear. The transition being indicated - the shift from one functional equilibrium to the other - necessarily involves traversing a high peak of turbulent disorientation and emotional tension, and this territory is dangerous. It should not be taken lightly. In metaphorical terms it is roughly the equivalent of the Atlantic Ocean - thousands of miles of waves, sharks, and peril of all kinds. This is why we had to stop the models from providing direct instructions, even though they may well have been entirely valid in some sense - it is because that is effectively like looking at the Atlantic Ocean and then giving someone a compass, a kayak, and a paddle. Yes, that may even work, occasionally. There might even be a handful of people that could achieve the outcome indicated, and end up standing on the other shore. But that is not the path here. This needs to be for all people, and at a truly accessible level. The path here is to produce a completely different outcome, based on a totally different approach. I mean, if you want to cross the Atlantic today, what do you do? Start swimming? No. You buy an airline ticket, and take a bus to the airport, right? Yes. And the same is true here. So this is where we need the entire thing to land whenever anyone gets to the point of asking "what needs to happen next?" or "what can I do to help?" The only 'next thing' to do is to find and inform and support these few amongst us who have the necessary capacities required to produce the proverbial 'jumbo jet' option we are seeking here, and then to simply wait for that possibility to arrive. We need these bell divers to go into the deep for us, and to do the essential work at that level, so that we will never need to. That is the path. So if you are wondering what all of this is about, then this pretty much sums up the current situation. We have gone from seeking dialogue at that high level, as a means of finding and producing resources for those few, to a process where we are now devoting ourselves mostly to refining and developing the ability of these new AI models to appropriately and powerfully answer questions at any level of depth, and also at any level of audience. Therefore, one form of active dialogue has fallen away, only to be replaced by another. In this regard - and especially for anyone who believes they might represent this 'pilots and engineers' level of audience here - there remains the possibility of not only using these new GPT models to make your way into all of this territory, but to do that in the company of others involved. That is the purpose of this forum. In particular, it is very valuable at this early stage to get ongoing feedback from anyone as they make their way into the theory of 2EQ for the first time, and this also provides a much faster and more effective path to insight for any individual person - making that prospect a mutual win-win. Regardless, the answer always seems to be the same here - to chat about it. So as we already outlined above - that's where it begins. If you only talk about it then you will be moving it forward, rather than holding it back. This is the reason we have this forum as a starting point - it is all about having a space where this sort of dialogue might occur both safely and effectively. Beyond that, there is only the task of seeking out these rare few. That is the final recipe at this point: to create a cultural foundation to support them - like a village finding the best hunters, sending them out with everything they need for their quest, and then enjoying the feast when they return. As things evolve the territory will change somewhat in this sense, as we enter the stage where all the theory is being put into practice. But it will all start off with these entry level conversations. It all starts with just being prepared to chat away here in the forum. In particular, to just explain where you are getting stuck, or what you imagine is being said. To take that brief journey up to the initial lookout together, and to say what you see at every point, so that we can begin to get a clearer picture of where people are falling off the track. This will help us to get these models into shape as rapidly as possible, and thereby to dramatically increase the ability of anyone to reach the point where they essentially grasp what 2EQ is all about, and especially to do that without any external assistance. It is about having what it takes to just jump in and take a look. To ask questions, and poke around. There might be no safe way, no clean way, no right time, no being ready. There are only the right people, and if we can find them then nothing else will matter. But we can all jump in now and get the party started. Just to be clear, however - the whole thing comes as quite a shock. Especially if you are an academic, or anyone who makes their living from knowing stuff. What we see here is a very deep fracture that cleaves the bedrock of modern psychology right down the middle, thereby forcing us to start again in a sense. It is a ground-up rebuild in many ways. The insight, in the form of this functional differentiation, is so fundamental that it essentially makes it inimitable. Like nuclear fission, the whole thing reveals a profound and hidden potential at the level of the individual, one that can propagate like a wave in a collective sense, thereby producing another completely different phenomenon. A kind of 'wildfire realisation'. But in the same way, merely knowing the basic outlines isn't enough to release it. It means there were never going to be any incremental steps, or partial versions of this, because what defines this view is not just the idea. There is a certain critical mass of insight required in relation to the anatomy, and also a certain level of basic intellect associated. Which means that in the absence of such information - or such people - you really can't talk about it at all, not in any true or meaningful way. Basically, for a little bit of theoretical input in this direction you don't get a little bit of output. You get nothing at all. And for as long as your efforts fall short of the critical threshold you will continue to see no results. Nothing. Forever. This is what it means to be a paradigm. Anything short of the minimum critical mass will result in no effect at all. And that is what we see in all current psychological models - they are all nets that failed to catch the only fish that really matters in this context - the big one - and this can be very hard to accept if you happen to make a living selling sardines. It is an integrated singularity in this sense – it was born whole, and stands alone. It does not relate to any other existing theory, religion, or cosmology. Not directly. It therefore cannot be taken in part, any more than you can order half a puppy from the pet shop. It stands freely on the foundation of science in general, as a new and far simpler way to shuffle the same old deck. It validates many empirical findings, including them within a new framework, but in the process sweeps away a great deal of unnecessary and outdated theoretical detritus. This is important to know right at the start, if only so as to prepare you for the gravity of what is being proposed. Overlooking this issue in the individual was an absolutely huge cultural error that will unavoidably require an absolutely huge correction, so a degree of humility will be required in that sense. And failing to say this plainly, right up front, would simply be irresponsible. The particular location of what it reveals, and the depth of what it points at, essentially changes everything, immediately sweeping away the foundations of all views that do not include this most elementary fact. Which is, unfortunately, pretty much everything we see at present. Many views contain part of the picture, but the overall framework is what matters, and that has consistently eluded us. And as a result, this great cascading potential has remained beyond our reach. You can't even talk about this event in any meaningful way. Not in any typical social context as defined by common culture as we see it today. For instance you could not show up at any university and ask to talk about this in any balanced or informed sense, not without first having the paradigm fully up on the table in the way we are defining here. So you can discuss the human state from any angle you wish. You can talk about anything you like. But you can't talk about this great cascade, this paradigm as a whole, how it essentially works, or what makes it possible. Not really. And this is not only because it tends to be psychological kryptonite for most people, but because to do so you would ultimately need to have the critical details associated, which have not been openly available until now. This entire possibility is new, therefore - it is a very distinct thing that does not occur at all short of a certain threshold being reached – an emergent phenomenon, if you will. Conversely, however, this very same awareness threshold represents a barrier that - once crossed - also delivers just as much power in the other direction. This is because of the immediately spiraling nature of the resulting conversation. The moment you do cross the line where you have enough critical information to really do so, and in a way that assures forward movement, especially with enough cognitive horsepower present, the conversation will immediately begin to spiral upward in a kind of chain reaction - if only because it was only that particular combination that was missing. And this is why we are making that clear here. It is absolutely explosive in the right context. Are you ready for that? Well, okay then! I guess we'll see. Provided we can get enough feedback over time to be able to adjust them correctly, they should be able to give you everything you need. After that, you will then be free to chat away with anyone else who has reached the same point of clarity. And this can be a true joy - it is like having a big thorn removed from the typical social contract, and suddenly everything flows without effort, and without conflict. It can make you want to shout about it, but that is never a good idea, as you will discover. So it is always best to keep this under your hat, and to only ever discuss it with others who already know. And if you are tempted to share it, to only ever do that with the single smartest and most capable person you know. Pass it upwards, always upwards. The essential conundrum here is profound, and completely unique, in that what we see is such a massive and pressing imperative on one side, and on the other side a type of resistance that could hardly be more dramatic. It is a proverbial battle of titans in this sense, and this is why so few will be able to approach it without flinching. It is very deep - too deep for most. Overall, therefore, the purpose of this website is not to broadly promote the paradigm associated - it is simply not that sort of thing. This is not a social movement. It is not a club to belong to, it is not even a philosophy to adopt. There is nothing to believe here. There is only a small process to initiate, and a very big outcome to achieve. And to do that we need only explore a little, and to take a look. As indicated, we are really only aiming at a small handful of people in the first instance, it's just that we don't know who they are. So we need to cast a broad net. Most people won't be interested, and that's perfect. That was the lesson. Only a few will need to know all of this in order to make the insights available in practical form to everyone. And yet, those few will indeed need to know, and with that in mind we are doing everything we can here to prepare the way for them. Please be aware, however - and as we have hopefully already clarified here throughout - that some people are always going to find the subject matter more than a little challenging. In which case some sort of negative reaction can be expected. Apart from anything else 2EQ is a very fierce mirror, and some people simply don't like that sort of thing. With all of this in mind, it might eventually be necessary to approve all posts - leaving them in a moderation queue by default. That would be regrettable, but I suppose we will find out before long.
